Three column forms rise from a layered rectangular base: a tall fluted ivory column, a taller charcoal column with a squared capital, and a shorter ivory column finished with a brass-tone band. Their varied heights and surface details create a sculptural architectural study.
Column Study draws on the proportions and details of classical architecture, translating them into a compact wall composition. Three vertical forms stand together at different heights, creating a clear rhythm across the piece.
The tallest column is charcoal-toned, with a broad squared capital and stepped collar details. Beside it, a warm ivory column is marked by long vertical flutes that run down its shaft. The shorter ivory column introduces a simpler profile, accented by a narrow brass-tone band near its upper edge.
All three rise from a two-tier rectangular base in contrasting light and dark tones. The base gives the arrangement a strong horizontal foundation, while the different capitals, heights, and surfaces keep each column distinct.
The sculptural arrangement combines repeated vertical lines with variations in height and profile. Fine grooves on the ivory column contrast with the darker, squared capital and the plain rounded shaft of the shorter column.
